Deal Sheet: Google and Apex Clean Energy sign PPA for Data Center
Powering Virginia's First Onshore Wind Farm to Support Google's Data Center Operations and Advance Carbon-Free Energy Goals.
Overview:
Google entered into a power purchase agreement with Apex Clean Energy to secure the full capacity of the 79.3 MW Rocky Forge Wind Project, the first onshore wind farm in Virginia.
The collaboration between Google, led by Amanda Peterson Corio, Head of Data Center Energy, and Apex Clean Energy, represented by Eamon Perrel, Executive Vice President of Business Development, builds on their previous partnership for Timbermill Wind in North Carolina.
Rocky Forge Wind will use GE wind turbines and is expected to be operational in 2026, supporting Google's data centers in Virginia.
The wind farm's location in Botetourt County provides a unique opportunity for power generation that complements solar production and advances clean energy solutions in the region.
